I think the heart of the message here is to surround yourself with what you want. The examples you gave are perfect for people who are extroverted, healthily competitive, accomplishment-driven entrepreneurs, such as yourself. But I find that I get the most shit done when I am creatively inspired, and that can happen when I go outside or to a museum/exhibit/gallery (or even browsing online), even without meeting or talking to people. I also feel motivated after I talk to people whose minds, imaginations and personalities inspire me, regardless of what shit they are (or are not) getting done (think: random boho artist on the street).

I say this not to contradict your post, but to expand it to cover multiple personalities (introverts as well as extroverts), and to add some food for thought. If your goal is primarily to "get shit done," you should surround yourself with people who get shit done. But I find that for many (especially introverted) people who do creative work, there is a greater need to surround oneself with amazing creative work, regardless of who is behind it (think: anonymous street art).
